Join young adults who are passionate about disability inclusion on an accessible journey in Budapest! In partnership with the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan Adaptations program, take in the sights and sounds of this iconic city through the historic Jewish Quarter, sample local cuisine and visit the Dohány Synagogue, one of the largest synagogues in the world. Connect with local leaders and learn more about the notion of collective responsibility that’s present within this vibrant Jewish community.
Please Note: This journey is open to participants of the Adaptations program and participants nationally. Our trip will focus on people who are connected to the disability community, which includes:
- People with disabilities
- People who identify as neurodivergent
- Friends and family members of people with disabilities
- People who care about disability justice and access
- Anyone who would like to participate in this incredible, inclusive experience!

- Explore the intersection of Jewish values and disability justice with peers who want to connect with global Jewish responsibility.
- Take in the sites of Budapest, including its historic Jewish quarter, now home to an electric array of restaurants, historic ruin bars and galleries.
- Visit the Dohány Synagogue, one of the largest synagogues in the world, and the Mozaik Jewish community Hub, the innovated Jewish co-working space making waves in the non-profit world in Hungary.
- Gain an in depth understanding of diverse community programming being offered to the local Jews (through JDC supported programs), such as the Balint JCC and Aurora.
- Sample the delicious Hungarian cuisine and wine and take some time to slow down and absorb the local culture.
- Exchange with Hungarian local young professionals and community leaders to gain a unique perspective of current challenges, their efforts to find solutions, and the notion of collective responsibility.

Adaptations is a dynamic, supportive, social community for neurodiverse adults at the Jack and Shirley Silver Center for Diverse Abilities (CDA) at the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan. Through structured social and recreational programs, Adaptations provides multiple pathways to fostering independence, finding your passion, and experiencing the richness of community.
